John Leonard Insull (1883–1974) was the greatest and most prolific maker of ventriloquial figures in the United Kingdom. In 1952, he created Jonathan Jones, a red-haired puppet used by the Swedish ventriloquist Finn Bjorsen. Jonathan Jones could move his eyes and eyebrows, walk, and smoke. Currently, the puppet is on display at the Vent Haven Museum in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky.
As you can see, it bears an incredible resemblance to This Man, and many wonder if Leonard Insull dreamt of This Man before bringing him to life.
Recently, american photographer Matthew Rolston shoot it for the exhibition and book Talking Heads: The Vent Haven Portraits.
